It was Thursday, 18
June 2015 all of Muslims in entire world will start to remaining hungry and
thirsty for the sake of Allah. This is the holy month of Ramadhan, where they
will start to fast for a month. Fasting
in the month of Ramadhan is one of the five pillars of Islam. That is why Muslims
have to perform one of this pillar since it is compulsory and Allah has
promised great reward for those who fast. Fasting starts before sunrise and end
at sunset. Which means, Muslims will have their suhoor before the time of Fajr
prayer and ends at Salat al-Maghrib.
It was the first
Ramadhan for me as a student. I only ate bread, biscuit and plain water for my
suhoor meal. It make thinking of my home where my mum will serve us with more
delicious food for suhoor. But I’m still thankful for the bless that Allah have
gave to me. At least I have some food to eat rather than not having any food to
eat for suhoor. Muslims have to suhoor to keep them energize for hours of
fasting.
Fasting didn’t stop
me from performed my daily routine as a student. I’m still managed to go to
classes even though I have to take bus and ride a motorcycle on a sunny day. It
is quite challenging as I can feel dehydrated with the surrounding temperature,
but I can’t drink since it is wrong to do before the iftar time. So, I have to
remaining my fast until the time to break is coming. Some of my non-muslim
friends eat in front of me, which is rude for them to do that. But I managed to
control my patience to continue my fast.
After class, I will
go to Ramadhan bazaar at Ipoh Stadium. There are a lot of people at this
bazaar. They are many type of foods and drink sold here that attract people to
come here. I usually bought chicken rice and watermelon juice for my iftar
meal. Many of foods at the bazaar make me eager to wait for the break fast
time. Finally, it’s 7:32 p.m, where it is
the time for my place to break the fast. My housemate and I will share the food
that we bought at Ramadhan bazaar among us. I can feel the spirit of friendship
between us during iftar. After Isya’ prayer, I will go to mosque with my
housemate to perform tarawikh prayer. After finished the prayer, we will gather
and start to complete our assignment.
In a student life, I
have experience the challenging time during Ramadhan. Unlike the previous years
before, I was being disguise as a student, my Ramadhan was fully assemble at
home. It is where everything was on my mother’s responsibilities. She was the
one who prepared the foods for suhoor and iftar. This year Ramadhan have taught
me to be more discipline, more patience
and independent. That is why I can feel the blessing of Ramadhan as a student.
